Dan’s Blog: Round 2, Oulton Park

 In News

After the Oulton Park test mid-week, we knew this was going to be a weekend of hard work. Saturday practice was very productive, the team worked well in finding a direction for me to be comfortable. The time sheets did not show the progress made, but the feeling was a lot better for me.

Sunday morning, I instantly went faster. We knew the potential was there from Saturday but I never put it together, it showed us we were heading in the correct direction. Qualifying was chaotic, it started raining before we went out on track! We took a gamble with some intermediate tires but it didn’t pay off, it meant I’d be started 26th.

Race one was all about learning and gathering information, the goal was to finish the race so we can gather data to move forwards. This put us in good stead for the races to come.

Race two was a big step forward, knocking 0.5 off my lap time and being a lot more consistent to go with it. I really enjoyed myself, having some great battles with experienced riders. I crossed the line in 23rd after starting 27th, which shows great progress.

Race three was yet another step forward, setting a lap time of a 1:36:1 (2 seconds faster then Saturday!) Once again battling with very experienced riders and learning a lot. I crossed the line in 19th, my best finish to date in superbikes.

Overall, I’m really happy with the progress made, we have a good base to start from next time we are at Oulton Park. Thank you to my PR Racing/iForce BMW team for the hard work and my personal sponsors for making it happen!

See you all soon,

DJ
